Competition Results (2005)
In April 2005, we were still 6 months away from the initial Founding Fathers meeting of The Masters Friday Club, (which took place on October 19th, 2005), and records were scantily kept (if at all).

The only competitions held during this year were our two Major Championships, The Masters Friday Tournament & The Woody Cup.
Masters Friday (Major)
The 2005 Masters Friday Tournament represented the 7th official installment of this outing.  Until this point, no official records were maintained.  The MFC had yet to exist, and this tournament, while competitive, was mostly a social gathering of a small core group of folks residing in The Woodlands, Texas.

This year, the tournament was moved to a West Houston venue, The Golf Links at Cinco Ranch, mostly due to the fact that our current chairman sold his home in The Woodlands, and moved his family to West Houston.

All Masters Friday contestants were able to select any player in the Augusta field (including Tiger who performed poorly on Thursday +2 ).  However, most of our competitors shied away from Tiger due to his less than stellar opening round.  Chris DiMarco opened up on Thursday with a -5, 67.  As a side-note ... Billy Casper recorded the worst round in Masters history with a +34, 106.

This Masters was eventually won by Tiger Woods in a playoff over Chris DiMarco, fueled by his improbable chip-in on 16

Our own P. Michael Gandolfo III ran away with the title in his maiden voyage at an MFC event.  In addition to his (-7) posting at Cinco Ranch, he selected both Tiger Woods (-6) & Chris DiMarco (-5) to post an impressive (-18) for the day.  His victory stirred some grumblings within the group as it is not a widely accepted maxim for the FNG to win such a coveted title.  Coincidentally, this was the last year that Tiger was eligible for selection.
The Woody Cup (Major)
2005 represented the second installment of this Major Championship.  Defending Champion, John Phillips looked poised to repeat as champion, however a Ben Hogan-esque 5-wood into the 17th green, (i.e. "The Shot heard round the 17th Fairway") secured victory for Gene Brumbelow.
